Kenya is amazing...very different than I expected in some ways, very much the same in others. I seriously have so much to write that I don't even know where to begin.

I wish I could write more, post all my pictures, but I am, alas, in Africa so uploading a ton of photos will have to wait until I am back. In the meantime, I included the one above...

Hakuna Matata!!

Leaving for Kenya in 10 hours...so excited I might jump out of my chair despite the fact that I haven't slept in 24 hours (trying to reset the clock..I'm going to crash on the plane tonight..wake up tomorrow morning in Amsterdam, spend Saturday on a plane, and get to Kenya late Saturday night.)

I'm travelling for business which makes this trip especially interesting. Its sort of an experiment in my ability to work productively while on the road- especially in a "less-developed" country. My hope is that by bringing my US phone number (via Vonage), my laptop, and my mobile that I will be able to function as productively from any location in the world as I would from New York. We will see.

Expect lots of fun pictures soon....

Malaria vs. Suicide ???

I am leaving for Kenya on Friday so last weekend I started taking Lariam, an anti-malarial drug which my doctor prescribed for me. Tonight I read this on the website of the drug's manufacturer:

"People taking Larium occasionally experience sever anxiety, feelings that people are against them, hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that are not there, for example), depression, unusual behavior, or feeling disoriented. There have been several reports that in some patients these side effects continue after Larium is stopped. Some patients taking Lariam think about killing themsleves, and there have been rare reports of suicides."

OK, so Malaria is not the funnest disease around. But I am beginning to wonder if the alternative is better. Does anyone out there had any experience taking Lariam?

Please make me feel a little better...I am feeling a little ANXIOUS and DEPRESSED about the whole situation :) :)

I'm off to listen to the giant lizard with the bongo drums sitting in my living room..I mean, I think he's real...or maybe I am just HALLUCINATING.

Last Saturday Carly and I had a crazy Birthday Bash to celebrate the fact that we are both getting old (well, actually Carly is still quite young, and I am the only one getting old.)

It was a great time...50 of our friends, lots of dancing, and ending the night being serenaded by Scott on his roof...no one can ask for a better birthday.

Inspiration

I stumbled across this quote this morning and I really loved it so I am sharing it with all of you....

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is bliss, taste it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.
