When you ask God for Strength.....

I read a quote this week that said "If you ask God for strength, he will give you the biggest challenge you have ever faced." That about sums up my life right now.

I found out last week that I have to have surgery on both my feet...My bones were slightly damaged from dancing as a kid and the last few years as I have started running I have been putting more and more pressure on the bad joint. Now they have to break a bone in each of my feet and reconstruct my big toe joint...fun, fun, fun.

My doctor told me a minimum of 6 weeks (probably up to 12) in a wheelchair and a walker or crutches after that :( A year before I can run again. Needless to say I have been "rethinking" my life a litte bit lately. It makes you realize what is really important.

Today I finally found a glimpse of hope...a new technique for doing the surgery that a doctor in Los Angeles invented. I will find out by next week if I am able to do this kind of surgery instead of the normal one. This surgery uses titanium screws to hold your bones in place so you can walk almost immediately after surgery...not to mention that I wouldn't mind recuperating for a week on the beach in L.A. Pray to the god(s) you believe in that I am able to do this!! Although, yes, I know that most of you would find the sight of me in a wheelchair almost as comical as I would.

Anyways, I am still smiling. What else can you do? It could be a lot worse. Life goes on, one day at a time. I went running tonight..and enjoyed it much more than I usually do.

I have hammer toes as well!!! I dread all the visits to the foot doctor, because they allways tell me 'sometime soon we'll have to sort those out'. In the meantime i enjoy having crooked toes wih funny joints. : ).

Good Luck with looking at other alternatives, and I wish you the best....

I really hope the new surgery will work for you! Else I'm sure, you'll have the strength to make the best out of your time with the wheelchair/cruches... Never thought I could bridge 7 months without a job - then I found my philosophy classes... :)

Hugs

sitting on the sidelines of a wedding dance, due to bad knees, my grandmother once told me when I was young, "dance when you have the chance" you are a person who lives that.

you'll be back on your feet in no time : ) best of luck, chica.

Thanks for getting me out of the Egypt marathon ;-) Just realized a couple weeks ago that it's only about 6 weeks after I'll be there already for nomadfest. My pockets aren't that deep. Ok, that's a total lie, my pockets are non-existent. What I really mean is Visa's pockets aren't that deep for me ;-)

Hope this works out for you!
